The National Indian Education Association (NIEA) is pleased to announce our fourth New York State Regional Conferences focusing on the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).  This first conference, based in the Southeastern region of New York, will be held from 9AM to 4 PM and feature presentations on the following topics:

  • ESSA Overview
  • Advocacy 101
  • Trauma and Native Students
  • ESSA and Foster Care
  • ESSA Implementation in New York

Participants will gain an understanding of what ESSA says and how it is implemented at the state and local levels, including the requirement for tribal consultation as it relates to curriculum for Native students. If you are a parent, educator, tribal leader, or interested in the state of Native education in your community, please plan on attending.

The conference is FREE to all participants and lunch will be provided.
